Electrification of the railway between Kenitra and Mohammedia
First step in the modernization of the railways in Morocco
Kenitra-Mohammedia, Morocco
Status: ongoing
Ayesa is developing for the Office National des Fer Chamins (ONFC) the contract for the electrification studies of the third railway track between Kenitra and Mohammedia for a speed of 160 km/h, and the renewal of the catenary of the Ain Sebaa - Rabat Ville corridor (stations and routes) for a speed of 220 km/h.
This is the detailed engineering design of the electrification of two separate but essentially parallel paths of double track and single track respectively. There is a total 290 km of new electrification. This project is strategic in Morocco because it represents one of the first steps contemplated by the neighboring country to adapt and modernize the railways with the aim of providing the country’s railway map of lines of high performance comparable to European technology.
To make this project, Ayesa realigned its organizational structure and the technical methods of production of electrification projects in the manner of French work, as this is the one used in Morocco. This will confirm the basis and the resources needed to have within our company electrification department capable of performing all kinds of detailed engineering work for catenary railway. This capability will allow Ayesa stand out in the field of Spanish engineering specialized in electrification works in this kind of detailed engineering work.
This capability allows us to offer our services in new markets such as the Directorate of Conventional Lines of ADIF and various contractors specialized in installation of catenary that until now were trying to do the detailed engineering work on their own.
