Executive project of Dam The Zapotillo
Gonzalez Gallo Yahualica, Jalisco , Mexico
Status: ongoing
The storage dam of The Zapotillo over the Green river, in the State of Jalisco, will serve for the supply of potable water and to the city of Leon, State of Guanajuato, in addition to providing services to the region of Guadalajara with the future dam ofThe Purgatory.
The dam designed is of gravity type with HCR, with plant in curve of 340 m of radius, 349.80 m of crest and a height over the course of 112 m and over the foundation of 129 m. The curtain closes an associated reservoir of 909,76 hm3 capacity to NAMO, and a surface to that level of 32,9 km2. The crest is located at a dimension of 1657,0 m.s.n.m. with a crest width of 7.4 m. The total volume of concrete is 1,200,000 m3, while the volume of excavation in the area of the curtain is estimated at around 1,615,000 m3.
The upstream slope of the curtain is vertical, while the downstream is rolling down a general slope of 1.2V/1H.
The work of leave is placed over the curtain and consists of a spillway without gates with the threshold at a depth of 1648,19 msnm, of a discharge canal that ends in a dissipating bucket at the base of the dam that restores the channel waters.
For water capture the dam has two intake towers located on the left side. Each tower has 4 shots, having the overall system of recruitment for a total of 8.
Downstream of the dam, there is a derivation to the buffer tank with a flow of 10 m3/s and a conduction that will conect with the acueduct Zapotillo (which will address to the population of Leon) with a design flow of 6 m3/s.
